Website Tips - What's in a name

From the Annual meeting on the topic of website names and URL's:

My suggestion, strictly from marketing experience, is that a website name (URL) needs to mean something... After 30+ years people now recognize International Business Machines as IBM and Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing as 3M ( I think I have that right), but who knows what SBPC stands for?

I'm using that for an example because Bridget from Iowa paid attention and just changed www.sbpc.ponycub.org to www.SilverBits.PonyClub.org !!

Just imagine how unlikely it would be for some Budding Iowa Pony Kid to search for sbpc... Congratulations Bridget! Erin Woodall at USPC tells me your site will be moved to the new address as soon as you give her the OK.

Erin also told me that this type of name change can be made at no charge, IF "your'nice" to her... Thanks, Erin!

1. That parents will actually use the site for information
2. That we can involve the kids with blogs and pictures
3. That I can give potential members our site, knowing that they will go 'WOW, I need to be a part of that'!!!!
