Mackensie Kurtz is one year younger and 13 inches taller than the leading man in her life.

When they first met, she was a 7-year old beginner about to purchase a sweet well-broke pony. He was an 8-year-old chestnut terror - a mediun Welsh pony with four white feet, a crooked fishhook blaze and a tendency to charge at fences. Her trainer attempted to kindly point out the pony's complete unsuitability and recommended against the purchase.

But Kurtz' reply was simply, "I think I like him."
